While working from home over the past few months I’ve been able to do some things around the house that I had been putting off. I cleared out all my rooms – my home office gave me five bags of paper that needed shredding so I called a company that comes to the house and does it for you to see. I went through the kitchen and threw away all used by dates and equipment that I don’t use. I went through every drawer in my bathrooms and threw away everything I don’t use – amazing how many lotions and potions we buy, use once, and never again. And I went through every piece of clothing in my closets and took out items that I hadn’t worn in a year. I have eight bags of clothes, shoes, and bags for charity, but of course, they are not taking anything at the moment but they are ready to go.
Then I decided on some deep cleaning in my kitchen and bathrooms.
I had everything I needed in the kitchen – distilled white vinegar, baking soda, and dish detergent.
For the white grout in my bathroom and kitchen tiles, I made a solution of the white vinegar and water and put it in a spray bottle. In a small bowl, I made a paste with baking soda and water, put onto a toothbrush, and worked into the grout and then sprayed the vinegar and water on which bubbles it all up. Keep working into the grout and then rinse off with warm water.
Another thing I wanted to do was clear out my bathroom sink which emptied a little slowly due to hair and the kitchen sink to clear of any debris. Boil a pot of water and pour down the drain, follow with a cup of baking soda and a cup of water mixed with a cup of the white vinegar. Cover with the plug for 15 minutes and then pour another pot of boiling water down the drain again. And that’s it!
I was on a roll so I decided to clean the dishwasher too. Place a cup of white vinegar in a bowl and put on the top rack. Run at the hottest cycle and the vinegar acids break down and old deposits. When that cycle is finished remove the bowl and sprinkle baking soda over the floor of the dishwasher and run another hot cycle. Yeah! Fresh smelling and clean.
I think this will all last for a while and hopefully, I won’t be looking for things to do around the house.
I do have to venture into the garage! Ugg!!
